Which doctor should I go see for my hair loss?

I have been loosing a lot of hair lately, which doctor should I go see a dermatologist or my regular doctor?Which doctor should I go see for my hair loss?
You should see your regular doctor, because he will be able to refer you to the correct specialist.

What type of doctor should I see about hair loss?

Does anyone visit doctor and get good result? What is their suggestion and treatment? What type of doctor should I see about hair loss?
I'd probably go to my family doctor first %26amp; get a referral. What type of doctor should I see about hair loss?
Endocrinologist. They specialize in hormones and the body's' glands that produce hormones, along with other glands in the body. If certain hormones are elevated/decreased they can affect hair growth/hair loss. Until certain tests are done, their suggestion/treatment will vary from person to person. However, you should check with your primary Doc so that he/she can rule out any underlying physical problem. I hope that this helps.
At first, you could try visit a dermatologist or endocrinologist. Most of the times, hair-loss treatment is not permanently successful. There are special shampoos you can use, but they can only delimit or temporarily stop hair loss. If you stop using them, hair loss will probably go on. But I am not a doctor, you should consult one of the above types of doctors.

Need a real doctors opinion regarding hair loss?

My 13 year old cousin was losing hair, her doctor told her she had Alepecia but then some Homeopathic medicine guy told her she didn't have Alepicia at all, she in fact has a blocked liver which is causing hair loss and has her on a special diet and taking some random *** medication

This sounds a bit suspect to me and was wanting a real doctors opinion. Would a 13 year old get a 'blocked liver'? And if so would it cause hair loss?

I dont really buy the whole Homeopathic Medicine thing lol

Cheers, JohnNeed a real doctors opinion regarding hair loss?
homeopathy is a load of crap. i agree with the answerer of above, it's probably and iron deficiency... i was losing hair at one point and i had some blood tests taken and i was low in iron so they gave me some iron tablets which fixed the problem. get your cousin to have some blood tests.Need a real doctors opinion regarding hair loss?
Shes probably anemic. Low iron can cause hair-loss.

Hair loss is caused by many reasons such as malnutrition, illness, tension and other health problems. It is normal to shed some hair each day as part of a cycle of growing new hairs and loosing some. Badly damaged hair breaks at the scalp. Check out http://usefulinfo-hairloss.blogspot.com/ for more info.I do have severe hair loss since my childhood, met several doctors but not successfull?

Maybe you could go to a Tricologist if you have not done so already, they will go through your hair history and see what the underlying problem is. All the best to you,I have suffered from hair loss myself so I know what your going through.
biotin (5,000iu) goto GNC and ask for DHT blocker vitamin if they dont have them ask where you can purchase them. . to much DHT in the body causes hair loss.also you can try nioxin which is sold at any salon. also make sure you are takign a multivitamin. it could be a vitamin deficency. have the docs looked into that? it will take 30 days to notice an diffrence with any vitamin though.

  • To what doctor do i need to go for my hair loss?

Im a woman and 19 yrs old and I am losing my hair like crazy, i barely have any anymore. I'd like to know what doctor i need to go to for the treatment of my hair loss. I was thinking of going to a dermatologist, but what if the problem is not on my scalp? will a dermatologist also perform blood tests to rule out the chances of anemia or other physical reasons for my hair loss?....or will they only examine my scalp?

what kind of doctor will perform tests on me to rule out all the possible causes ( blood test and scalp) will a regular general physcian do this or a dermatologist?

    will appreciate knowledgeable answers

thank you :)To what doctor do i need to go for my hair loss?
Just go to your regular dr. first. She/he will be able to examine you and run the appropriate labs in order to determine if you need a specialist and which one to send you to if you do.

Just FYI 'cause I'm a big nerd, here's a few things that cause alopecia(hair loss) along with other symptoms you might watch for.

Medications that cause alopecia: warfarin, heparin, propylthiouracil, carbimazole, lithium, beta blockers, colchicine, %26amp; isotretinoin.

-Telogen effluvium: diffuse hair loss following major stress, high fever, severe infections, hormone changes, post-partum.

-Alopecia areata: hair follicles are attacked by T lymphocytes, usually seen in hyper or hypothyroidism, vitiligo, %26amp; down's syndrome. Characteristics include circular areas of hair loss %26amp; pitting of fingernails.

-Tinea capitis: aka cradle cap, cased by the dermatophyte Trichophyton tonsurans. This infection can lead to scaling lesions on the scalp, patches of hair loss with stubble/broken hairs, and/or plaque formations with pustules(little bumps that look like pimples).

-Androgenic allopecia: hair loss due to ovarian or adrenal gland dysfunction. Associated symptoms include deepened voice, clitoris enlargement, changes in skin, decreased breast tissue, %26amp; facial hair.

-Lupus erythmatosus: may result in diffuse hair loss/involves the entire scalp or only invove the frontal scalp. To what doctor do i need to go for my hair loss?
Yes you can go to him. Hair loss is caused by many reasons such as malnutrition, illness, tension and other health problems. Badly damaged hair breaks at the scalp. Check out http://usefulinfo-hairloss.blogspot.com/ for more info.

    Calling all doctors hair loss?

Ive been going bold for some and I want to lose it all. how can I do this.I don't want to keep shaving my head. there got to be another way. please helpCalling all doctors hair loss?
Shaving is a drag, but the only way to do it. Gillette Fusion + Gillette Fusion foam and then follow with a good moisturiser twice a day.

Luckily Rhianna finds my shiny pate a turn on, and well generally prefers all areas shave. (If you catch my drift.)Calling all doctors hair loss?
Have ever tried a re-growth formula? A friend of mine was in the same position you are now and tried a formula that gave his full head of hair back. I checked out the site and it offers a free 2 month supply. You could always get the free trial and try it out to see if it works for you. I hope that this can help you.

There is no other way. If you want to abandon ship and go bald, shaving it to maintain it is the only way. I personally think Dr Frank's shaved head looks very sexy!
i hear there is a cream you can apply that gradually kills the hair or laser therapy or electrolysy are the other methods.
Sorry there is no other way then keep on shaving it:there are no drugs to help your hair fall out completely.

The only way to get it all off is to get cancer. But why would anyone want to do that?
