Which doctor should I go see for my hair loss?

I have been loosing a lot of hair lately, which doctor should I go see a dermatologist or my regular doctor?Which doctor should I go see for my hair loss?
You should see your regular doctor, because he will be able to refer you to the correct specialist.

What type of doctor should I see about hair loss?

Does anyone visit doctor and get good result? What is their suggestion and treatment? What type of doctor should I see about hair loss?
I'd probably go to my family doctor first %26amp; get a referral. What type of doctor should I see about hair loss?
Endocrinologist. They specialize in hormones and the body's' glands that produce hormones, along with other glands in the body. If certain hormones are elevated/decreased they can affect hair growth/hair loss. Until certain tests are done, their suggestion/treatment will vary from person to person. However, you should check with your primary Doc so that he/she can rule out any underlying physical problem. I hope that this helps.
At first, you could try visit a dermatologist or endocrinologist. Most of the times, hair-loss treatment is not permanently successful. There are special shampoos you can use, but they can only delimit or temporarily stop hair loss. If you stop using them, hair loss will probably go on. But I am not a doctor, you should consult one of the above types of doctors.

Need a real doctors opinion regarding hair loss?

My 13 year old cousin was losing hair, her doctor told her she had Alepecia but then some Homeopathic medicine guy told her she didn't have Alepicia at all, she in fact has a blocked liver which is causing hair loss and has her on a special diet and taking some random *** medication

This sounds a bit suspect to me and was wanting a real doctors opinion. Would a 13 year old get a 'blocked liver'? And if so would it cause hair loss?

I dont really buy the whole Homeopathic Medicine thing lol

Cheers, JohnNeed a real doctors opinion regarding hair loss?
homeopathy is a load of crap. i agree with the answerer of above, it's probably and iron deficiency... i was losing hair at one point and i had some blood tests taken and i was low in iron so they gave me some iron tablets which fixed the problem. get your cousin to have some blood tests.Need a real doctors opinion regarding hair loss?
Shes probably anemic. Low iron can cause hair-loss.

I do have severe hair loss since my childhood, met several doctors but not successfull?

I have tried several medicines ,herbal oils and consulted doctors but the problem has not been solved. Please help me before i go baldI do have severe hair loss since my childhood, met several doctors but not successfull?
Hair loss is caused by many reasons such as malnutrition, illness, tension and other health problems. It is normal to shed some hair each day as part of a cycle of growing new hairs and loosing some. Badly damaged hair breaks at the scalp. Check out http://usefulinfo-hairloss.blogspot.com/ for more info.I do have severe hair loss since my childhood, met several doctors but not successfull?
you should try www.biolustreflorida.com

chemo patients use it and it increase tensile strength=staying power
Maybe you could go to a Tricologist if you have not done so already, they will go through your hair history and see what the underlying problem is. All the best to you,I have suffered from hair loss myself so I know what your going through.
biotin (5,000iu) goto GNC and ask for DHT blocker vitamin if they dont have them ask where you can purchase them. . to much DHT in the body causes hair loss.also you can try nioxin which is sold at any salon. also make sure you are takign a multivitamin. it could be a vitamin deficency. have the docs looked into that? it will take 30 days to notice an diffrence with any vitamin though.

  • To what doctor do i need to go for my hair loss?

Im a woman and 19 yrs old and I am losing my hair like crazy, i barely have any anymore. I'd like to know what doctor i need to go to for the treatment of my hair loss. I was thinking of going to a dermatologist, but what if the problem is not on my scalp? will a dermatologist also perform blood tests to rule out the chances of anemia or other physical reasons for my hair loss?....or will they only examine my scalp?

what kind of doctor will perform tests on me to rule out all the possible causes ( blood test and scalp) will a regular general physcian do this or a dermatologist?

    will appreciate knowledgeable answers

thank you :)To what doctor do i need to go for my hair loss?
Just go to your regular dr. first. She/he will be able to examine you and run the appropriate labs in order to determine if you need a specialist and which one to send you to if you do.

Just FYI 'cause I'm a big nerd, here's a few things that cause alopecia(hair loss) along with other symptoms you might watch for.

Medications that cause alopecia: warfarin, heparin, propylthiouracil, carbimazole, lithium, beta blockers, colchicine, %26amp; isotretinoin.

-Telogen effluvium: diffuse hair loss following major stress, high fever, severe infections, hormone changes, post-partum.

-Alopecia areata: hair follicles are attacked by T lymphocytes, usually seen in hyper or hypothyroidism, vitiligo, %26amp; down's syndrome. Characteristics include circular areas of hair loss %26amp; pitting of fingernails.

-Tinea capitis: aka cradle cap, cased by the dermatophyte Trichophyton tonsurans. This infection can lead to scaling lesions on the scalp, patches of hair loss with stubble/broken hairs, and/or plaque formations with pustules(little bumps that look like pimples).

-Androgenic allopecia: hair loss due to ovarian or adrenal gland dysfunction. Associated symptoms include deepened voice, clitoris enlargement, changes in skin, decreased breast tissue, %26amp; facial hair.

-Lupus erythmatosus: may result in diffuse hair loss/involves the entire scalp or only invove the frontal scalp. To what doctor do i need to go for my hair loss?
Yes you can go to him. Hair loss is caused by many reasons such as malnutrition, illness, tension and other health problems. Badly damaged hair breaks at the scalp. Check out http://usefulinfo-hairloss.blogspot.com/ for more info.

    Calling all doctors hair loss?

Ive been going bold for some and I want to lose it all. how can I do this.I don't want to keep shaving my head. there got to be another way. please helpCalling all doctors hair loss?
Shaving is a drag, but the only way to do it. Gillette Fusion + Gillette Fusion foam and then follow with a good moisturiser twice a day.

Luckily Rhianna finds my shiny pate a turn on, and well generally prefers all areas shave. (If you catch my drift.)Calling all doctors hair loss?
Have ever tried a re-growth formula? A friend of mine was in the same position you are now and tried a formula that gave his full head of hair back. I checked out the site and it offers a free 2 month supply. You could always get the free trial and try it out to see if it works for you. I hope that this can help you.

There is no other way. If you want to abandon ship and go bald, shaving it to maintain it is the only way. I personally think Dr Frank's shaved head looks very sexy!
i hear there is a cream you can apply that gradually kills the hair or laser therapy or electrolysy are the other methods.
Sorry there is no other way then keep on shaving it:there are no drugs to help your hair fall out completely.

The only way to get it all off is to get cancer. But why would anyone want to do that?

Is Severe Hair Loss an acceptable reason to visit a Doctor?

I have been suffering hair loss for the last 1 and a half years and lately just by feeling the density of my hair i can tell there is not much left (particularly in the front).

Hair colouring many times was what triggered the initial hair loss and it has gone from bad to worse over the many months.

Every time I wash my hair about 100 hairs fall out, and several weeks later my hair does not seem to regrow back, so my hair mass gets thinner and thinner each time.

This makes washing my hair a thing that i do not look forward to, and i have already had depression over this issue. I think I have passed my depression stage, although recently I am constantly feeling down (due to the fact of how thin my hair is) and I have harsh suicidal thoughts at least twice a week.

So From all of what I said do you think this is an acceptable reason to see a doctor?? I would also appreciate comments from people also with hair loss.. thanks all xoxIs Severe Hair Loss an acceptable reason to visit a Doctor?
Of course. Anytime you are concerned is a good time to see the doctor.

All the best.Is Severe Hair Loss an acceptable reason to visit a Doctor?
Yes, please ask your doctor to check your thyroid hormones.

Hypothyroidism can cause extensive hair loss AND depression.

The treatment can be as easy as taking meds like synthroid once a day.

I had been hypothyroid for years before being diagnosed. At my worst, I was losing 600 hairs per day (when I did bother to count them), and very down. There are many other symptoms to hypothyroidism, and there are many different causes too.

Please go get some bloodwork done soon.

    Best of luck.
Yes it could be a hormone problem. Go to the doc and have him check your hormone levels.
Yes, you could have a fungal infection.
Sorry to hear how you feel but I understand as when I slipped a disc and received 3 treatments of cortisone in the spine , trouble is that I did not know my body disagrees with that stuff and the end result was all hair on my body -yes everywhere uh hu even there ! with the help of a dermatologist one %26amp; half years later I have hair . So friend stop feeling bad for yourself and silly ideas about giving up - do you see soldiers without limbs give up - no they dig down and come up fighting %26amp; that is what you need to do. GO see a doctor - may take a year or so but go fight for your hair!

Hair loss prevention: should I talk to a family medicine doctor, or should I ask the hair salon?

Hi, I am concern about serious hair loss in the near future because I am experiencing seeing more than 10 strands of hair losses every shower. I am 20 yr old male.

Of course, I will probably lose a lot more hair when going into 40's just as my Dad. However, I would like to know of potential prevention methods, and confirm whether if I am experiencing anything serious as of now.

Should I speak to a family doctor, someone from regular hair salon, or other sort of hair specialist? What is the cause of hair loss at young age? Could there be a problem with my shampoo (shampoo/conditioner)? Is my hair gel expiring or something? Does the weather/environmental temperature has anything to do with it?

What are some common ways to maintain healthy and strong hair?

My apologies for so many questions, but please provide informative answer, thanks!!!!Hair loss prevention: should I talk to a family medicine doctor, or should I ask the hair salon?
First of all...ALWAYS ask a doctor. All the people at a hair salon will do is tell you to use their products to help fix the problem. Its a bunch of bull.

The girl above me was right. 50-250 strands a day is acceptable, but usually not noticable. If you feel that you're losing more hair than usual, you need to see a doctor and see what they say. The people who normally handle hair loss are dermatologists.

Hair loss at a young age can be caused by many things: lacking in iron, certain vitamins ((mostly Bs)) and nutrients, stress, excessive weight loss, or just early signs of androgenetic alopecia ((fancy name for male pattern baldness)).

Shampoo and conditioner is rarely a problem and doesn't actually cause hair loss. A good shampoo to use is the Nioxin line ((sold in speciality shops such as Sally's, Master Cuts and Trade Secret or it can be ordered offline)). I doesn't make your hair grow or actually make it thicker, but it makes it look thicker, so if it starts to look like your losing hair, thats really good. It's pricey but better than Rogaine ((which can actually do worse than any other treatment rather than good)).

As for weather and environment, hair tends to shed more around spring and autum because that is when the hair goes into the telogen, or resting, phase.

To keep your hair strong and healthy, try taking Biotin. It can be found in most vitamin sections and helps the hair grow healthy and faster. It's pretty inexpensive.

I hope this helped you out! Good Luck! =]

What tests do doctors perform to determine reasons for hair loss?

In the last 8 months I started losing my hair very rapidly, and have developed bald spot. I have no idea why, and it's making me very depressed. I have read that it's a good idea to go to a doctor if you are experiencing rapid hair loss because it might be a sign of a disease or infection. I'm just wondering what kinds of tests doctors do to determine the cause of hair loss and how they tie those results back to any specific disease??What tests do doctors perform to determine reasons for hair loss?

Minoxidil : Cause a fall in blood pressure, an increase in the heart rate, and weight gain (fluid retention)

Propecia : May cause birth defects in male baby's sex organs if taken by women. Also, potentially irreversible side effects occurring in the group of people taking the drug are erectile dysfunction, ejaculation disorder (decreased volume of ejaculate) and low libido. What tests do doctors perform to determine reasons for hair loss?
I think they would start with the blood test. However, what I would like to tell you is that if you are not suffering from any specific problems or symptoms then quite possibly you may be suffering from Alopecia Areata generally termed as Spot Baldness. It has been known to have depressing effect on people suffering from it. But is very much treatable and if treated in time in most cases lost hairs do come back. I suggest you read this article below to learn more about this problem which would probably help you analyzing if you are suffering from it or not. In any case it is no replacement to medical test but should help you understand things better and probably help reducing stress related to it as well.

    http://www.hairfallguide.com/hair-loss-p鈥?/a>
your doctor will run blood tests to enosure you are not ill or do not have thyroid or other problems. Unfortunately that is the way hair loss does develop sometimes. You can go from a full head of hair to rapid loss quite quickly.

f you are beginning to lose your hair there are several things you can do to stop it.

Eat a healthy diet. Hair is 95% protein and eating a diet with plenty of vitamins and proteins will not only make your hair look healthy but will

    help you to keep it.

take hair supplements for There are many that contain all the vitamins and proteins your hair needs. the best ones contain DHT inhibitors that stop your body converting testosterone into DHT which is the cause of genetic hair loss.

Use a good shampoo. Ideally it should have a pH between 5 and 9.

Finally try and avoid stress, this is a major cause of hair loss and avoiding it will help you keep your hair on your head.
Hair loss can be caused by many things, including some medications, high fevers, hormonal changes, pregnancy, surgical shock, transplant surgery, poor diet (lacking in essential fatty acid, biotin, zinc, iron deficiency), anemia, aging, male pattern baldness, thyroid disease causing decreased thyroid levels (hypothyroidism), severe emotional stress, and autoimmune disease (disease that affects the body鈥檚 ability to recognize its own tissues, causing it to gradually destroy them).

If you're young and have no other sign of illness, talk to your doctor. A simple blood work can detect serious problems.
If your bald spots has smooth surface and is around the size of dime, then it might be Alopecia Areata. The doctors classifiy this disorder as an autoimmune disease. They would try to detect any abnormal volume of T-Cells or Lymphocytes aroud the affected area. This could narrow down the possibilities.

i am 18 years old and experiencing fatigue hair loss and muscle pain. do i need to see a doctor?

I think you might have fibromyalgia. There are few doctor's that can diagnose this complicated disease so you may want to see a few neurologists. You might want to ask the doctor's office if they treat fibromyalgia first before you spend money on a doctor's visit. They understand more than any type of doctor. It took my mom half her life for someone to find the name of her fatigue and muscle pain. She said she felt like she was hit by a truck, haveing acid run through her veins or just ran a marathon(these are called flairs). Some days she would have bad days, somedays better. But she needed the right pain meds to take care of these flairups 24/7. I hope this helps. i am 18 years old and experiencing fatigue hair loss and muscle pain. do i need to see a doctor?
Absolutely see a doctor right away! Many things could be causing this kind of trouble, such as a vitamin/mineral deficiency, a thyroid disorder, or a host of other things. It will likely only get worse if you don't see a doctor, but most things are very treatable once you are diagnosed, so it's more than worth it to get checked out. i am 18 years old and experiencing fatigue hair loss and muscle pain. do i need to see a doctor?
I would defintily see a doctor mainly because of your age. and yea it may be as simple as a vitamin deficieny or something so go in and explain all your symptoms. good luck.
yes , may be anemia !

Are their any doctors that specialize in hair loss?

My hair falls out a lot. It falls out in chunks. I dont have no bald spots. But my hair is very thing compare how it was when i was sixteen. My hair was normal and didnt fall out intill i hit 16. I ask my family doctor and she said that is just stress. But i dont think is just stress i think there something else going on. else there any medicine that are for hair that i cant take. Are their any doctors that specialize in hair loss?
Drink 10-12 glasses of water daily and have a high protein diet with plenty of fruits, vegetables and dairy products. Since iron-deficiency anemia can also cause hair loss, make sure that you eat a well-balanced diet that includes a daily serving or two of iron-rich foods. Check out

http://usefulinfo-hairloss.blogspot.com/ for more info. Are their any doctors that specialize in hair loss?
It could be your thyroid or something else so please go see a different doc if your doc won't take the time to find out what is wrong.
Don't be so quick to dismiss stress as a cause of your hair loss. It may very well be stress-related. Investigate this further. Hair loss can be due to dietary and hormone reasons as well. If you really must, ask your doctor about a referral to a dermatologist.

I think you may have goofed. You asked if there are any meds you CAN'T take for this. The treatment depends on the cause and may or may not include medication.
you better see a doctor.... a dermatologists may specialize in such a condition, you better check that out!!!

    Hair loss (doctors only please)?

My daughter is 13 and is lossing alot of hair and notice that her hair does not grow like it use too. When showering she loses alot of hair...is this normal? And if it isn't, what is wrong and how can I help her.Hair loss (doctors only please)?
    Great answers everyone!!

The person who mentioned alopecia areata brings up an imprtant point.

Is the hair loss across the whole head - or is it in one or two locations (alopecia areata)?

The causes of each are quite different.

If the hair loss is generalized - then it could, indeed, be stress. If there is flaking or rash - you need to consider a couple other things like tinea capitis (a stubborn fungal infection) as well as systemic diseases like thyroid disease or anemis (need lab tests to evaluate for these).

If there is only one spot or a couple - then it is areata - and there is a treatment (unnecessary to treat if not severe - eventually it will regrow - but you can ';jump start'; the growth by injecting steroids into the scalp...and no...she won't really like that...but if the doc puts some xylocaine in the injection it doesn't hurt that much).

Please see your doctor for this - either way it deserves proper medical attention.Hair loss (doctors only please)?
see your family dr first off. a few blood tests may reveal the cause. failing that, he/she may refer you to a specialist in childrens medicine.
It could be a B6 deficiency, folic acid deficiency or anaemia.

Take her to a GP and request a blood test. Extreme stress, worry or anxiety can also cause hair loss. Hormonal changes have also been the cause of hair loss, and as she is 13 this could also be the cause.
You probably will not get a doctor to answer here, so I hope this information helps. First of all everyone loses a certain amount of hair when they shower. It is just natures way and it is normal.

There is a hair loss condition called ';alopecia areata';. There are web sites on this condition. Just type in alopecia areata, then go to #2 Question %26amp; Answers. It explains clearly what it is, if the hair grows back, etc.

I hope that this helps you and your daughter. She must be quite upset being only 13. Let me know how she makes out. I do care.
Ha, I'm not a doctor. I'm not sure doctors would have time for Yahoo Answers. I'd say I lost a LOT of hair when mine was shoulder length. Clogged the drains and everything, but mine grew back. If her's isn't growing back, why not TAKE her to a doctor?

Something I know it could be, but can't be sure, because I'm not a doctor and even more importantly, she's not in MY office...

Stress. She could be depressed, over worked from school, anxious about school or life in general. Look for any underlining causes of mental disorders (anxiety disorders or depression).

Maybe she just needs a hair cut? Seriously.
From what I know, if it is below 100 hairs/day, it is still normal. But, I have experience using an anti hair loss product from France and I ve recommended 2 friends, and they worked. By the way, where are you? which country? I'll give the nearest address you can purchased yourself, because it is sold worldwide. Email me your country to anwar.tirta@yahoo.com if you are serious want to help your daughter.

I went to see the doctor and was given a blood test and the results came back all clear!! they said therefore its not a medical problem but the hair loss is quite disturbing! What other reasons cuold there be?Patchy hair loss .. doctors cant help!?
-PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome), excessively high levels of androgens (male hormones)

    -Anemia (low iron)

-Any hypothalamic or pituitary disorder (glands in the brain)

-Any thyroid, liver, adrenal or ovarian disorder

    -Childbirth

    -Drug toxicity - anesthesia, chemotherapy

    -Eating disorder - anorexia, bulimia

    -Essential fatty acid deficiency

-Protein deficiency (common with vegetarian diets)

    -Severe infection

    -Severe stress

-Starting or stopping birth control pills

-Various medications, including bromocriptine, beta blockers, ACE inhibitors, amphetamines, anticholesterol agents

-Mineral or vitamin deficiency - zinc, manganese, iron, vitamin B6, biotin

-Perms, hair color, bleach, improper brushing/combing, hair styles that pull on the hair

    -Autoimmune disease such as lupus

-Any sex steroid imbalance such as low progesterone, estrogen dominance

    -Allergies

    -Recent hepatitis B shot.

    -fungal infection of scalp

Also, if you comb it real tight and tie it back, it puts extra stress on the hair follicles. You may want to also try getting more sun on your scalp if you always have your head covered. (lack of vitamin D).

I would get a second opinion. Another doctor might have a different suggestion and test for other things.Patchy hair loss .. doctors cant help!?

i'm looking for a remedy for drastic hair lossI have a problem of hair loss doctors don't know why, do you?
Sounds like the doctors have ruled out organic causes.Your answer could be stress. It can cause you to lose your hair.Start practicing stress relief exercises, such as deep breathing, yoga classes etc... Go for a fast paced 1/2 hour walk daily. It does wonders for stress relief. Go to a book store and check out the books on how to reduce stress in your life.I have a problem of hair loss doctors don't know why, do you?
hair loss is generally cancer of the heard. Doctors or so called hair loss experts rarely mention this because they wanna make their money. Depending on the cancer type this could be the explanation on your problem. Bro, I'm bald and I recommend you shave your head like me. It will make you look younger than when you used to have hair. Believe me the chicks will come running after you.
Sometimes it's just genetics. You can try to eat certain foods and take a multivitamin to get the nutrients needed for strong hair.

Maybe it's the shampoo you use. I found that when I used Herbal Essences, it made my hair come out easier. If you use Herbal essences, stop theres been stuff on how it makes hair fall out.

    Best of luck
Have you had your thyroid checked? Checked for vitamin deficiancy, or mono? All of these can cause hair loss. So can hormone imbalances, so might want to check that too. If all of that has been done, you may need to see a specialist. Those are the main reasons for drastic hair loss.

Get hair transplant surgery in India.Thats the best method.Cosmetic Surgery is very cheap in India. There is one company that is very famous in India that arranges cosmetic surgery for foreigners in India. They are called the Forerunners Healthcare.I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and about their patient stories.I have also read that they arrange financing for american and canadian patients as cosmetic surgery is not covered by insurance.

They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. The cost savings are incredible. As a doctor i personally believe that your cosmetic surgery can be easily handled in India as the quality of healthcare available here is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.If you still havent got your surgery done, you are better off getting it done in India.

my cousin got a couple of plastic surgery including liposuction procedures through the forerunners healthcare in India and is all praise for this company. She is more than very happy with the results.she just paid 30% of the amoun she was quoted in UK.hope this helps.

What kind of doctor do i see for postpartum hair loss im 5 months post partum and i have lost half my hair?

year ago I suffered from hair loss too and I started trying everything you can imagine to stop my hair loss.

the things that really worked for me was:

    1) Vitamin A - an anti-oxidant which promotes healthy production of sebum in the scalp;

    2) Vitamin E stimulates circulation. Good blood circulation in the scalp is important in keeping hair follicles productive. The 'B' vitamins contribute to melanin, which gives hair its healthy color and also stimulates blood circulation;

    3) massage is also beneficial. Massage stimulates circulation. As already noted, good circulation in the scalp keeps hair follicles active. Experts suggest a few minutes of daily head massage by hand. Circulation through massage may be improved by using a few drops of lavender or bay essential oil in an almond or sesame oil base with massage;

    4) Try rubbing your scalp with garlic juice, Onion Juice or Ginger Juice(you can either of one out of three, Do not mix any of two or three);

    5) also you should use some herbal treatment.in that case Provillus is a good product that helps prevent hair loss and it is an FDA approved product. I think it is very important!

It worked and still works for me!

I do not know if any pharmacies carry Provillus but I do know that you should purchase it directly from the manufacturer and read more about the product here http://www.provillus.com/?aid=749165

    good luck!

not only my and my husband`s own personal experienceWhat kind of doctor do i see for postpartum hair loss im 5 months post partum and i have lost half my hair?
Although postpartum hair loss is very common, there are ways to lessen the effects and the severity. During the postpartum period, the hair that was not shed during pregnancy begins to shed several months after delivery. Once shedding ends the new mom should be left with hair only slightly thinner than her pre-pregnancy hair. Unfortunatley severe hair loss during this period is becoming more common.

During the postpartum period the body needs extra nourishment and care to support all the changes. Many new moms tend to neglect their own needs to care for the new baby. The body will not send any nourishment or energy to the hair until the rest of the body is supplied. The hair only gets what is left over. Adequate iron and zinc are especially important.

A warm scalp massage with nourishing oils feels wonderful and can supply nutrients and energy to the scalp to enhance hair growth. Certain essential oils cannot be used if nursing.

The articles below can help assist those with postpartum hair loss. What kind of doctor do i see for postpartum hair loss im 5 months post partum and i have lost half my hair?
Thyroid problems are sometimes common in the postpartum period and they cause hair loss. You need to call your obgyn and/or an endocrinologist. Both of those doctors can test for any type of hormone imbalance or thyroid problems which could can cause hair loss.
Hair loss after delivery can be a normal part of post par-tum. Usually it only amounts to the same amount you would have normally lost during 9 mo if you were not pregnant. You notice a big difference now because while pregnant your hair looks great, feels great etc. You may want to try a different cut while your hair goes through those changes %26amp; pamper it a little more. lots of products out there to bring back shine %26amp; health to your hair. Im a 21yr old Female, I stareted noticing thining of my hair, then itchyness, red spots and now i noticed hair loss. What other thing can i do to make it stop falling??? Can i change my diet?? Or stop my birth control?? I have the lowest dose on birth control. Please help.... Im becoming depressed because of it.My scalp is red, itchy and it hurts, with loss of hair, the doctor said I had Dermititis, How can I stop it?
go back to the doctor, there must be something else that can help.My scalp is red, itchy and it hurts, with loss of hair, the doctor said I had Dermititis, How can I stop it?
Been on minoxidil ( R0gaine庐 ) for about a year and a half and have not seen even the smallest amount of regrowth that i almost fell into depression.

My hair only started visibly growing on the balding spot after attempting the various natural techniques to re-grow lost hair for about 1 week plus @ http://www.regrowmyhair.info

I would highly recommend the website easy to follow step-by-step informative guide with pictures to anyone who is suffering from hair loss right now. But remember this isn't a miracle cure for baldness as you will also need to put in some effort in order to see results. And its only a minimum commitment of 15 minutes a day to help re-grow your lost hair. ( Sorry that I can't share the various natural techniques taught as i might be sued for copyright violation )

I am also convinced that a natural approach is a much more safer way of re-growing lost hair compared to those unnatural ways which may involve harsh chemicals that may have serious side effects.

These are the side effects of some common drugs for hair loss treatment :

Minoxidil : Cause a fall in blood pressure, an increase in the heart rate, and weight gain (fluid retention)

Propecia : May cause birth defects in male baby's sex organs if taken by women. Also, potentially irreversible side effects occurring in the group of people taking the drug are erectile dysfunction, ejaculation disorder (decreased volume of ejaculate) and low libido.

After my doctors prescribes a hair loss treatment, will this mean I will need to change my hair care regimen?

I have localized hairloss . There is only a patch about the size of a golfball , where my hair is breaking and thinning

I use hair sprays , gels , waxes and pomades in my hair everymorning .

If a doctor were to prescribe a topical cream , or ointment . Would the products I use in my hair , interfere with the treatment ?After my doctors prescribes a hair loss treatment, will this mean I will need to change my hair care regimen?
it depends. it will sometimes make a chemical reaction if you don't if it is safe to use them. but, if you don't want it to interfere then don't follow the doctor. sometimes, what the doctors said are not true. so, i recommend you to continue on what you are putting in your hair. After my doctors prescribes a hair loss treatment, will this mean I will need to change my hair care regimen?
Here a few simple home remedies which can be tried at home to control hair fall.

1.Rinse your hair with a mix of apple cider vinegar and sage tea this helps hair grow..

    2. A medicine rich in sulfur is also recommended as sulfur plays an important part in the structure of the hair.

    3. Massage with olive oil before going to bed at night and next morning, wash off the hair gently..

    4. To treat hair loss apply a little lemon juice with some black tea.Massage well and shampoo.

    5. Beat two eggs, and add two tablespoons of water to it. Rinse hair and pour the egg mixture over the hair.Massage the scalp well and leave for 10 minutes. Then wash it.

  • Should I use the medicine the doctor prescribed me for my hair loss???

My hair has been gradually thining for the past 5 years now and is getting really bad. After a skin biopsy test last year my doctor finall confirmed to me today that there is nothing majorly wrong and that its a really common condition (hair loss).

So now instead of refering me to another specialists he has giving me a scalp lotion to try.

...Sounds good but when i read what it was for, it seems as though its not for people suffering hair loss but far worse skin scalp conditions like, eczema, dermatitis (itching), psoriasis of the scalp...all of which i don't have!

its also used for seborrhoea capitis (a condition causing redness and inflamation of the scalp and crusty patches of the scalp.

It all seems rather scary to me as all the above symptons are not related to me! also the side effects are bad too!!!

Please help!!! should I listen to my doctor and use it???Should I use the medicine the doctor prescribed me for my hair loss???
see a dermatologist. I have thinning hair also. My Dr said its a hormone imbalance in adult women caused by how your body reacts to Testosterone. He gave me Spirolactone 150mg a day, along with Rogain twice a day. It was a miracle, and it also cleared up my adult acne. You have to continue use.Should I use the medicine the doctor prescribed me for my hair loss???
I think you sholud follow his instructions and give his strategy a chance. If it does not work, I would suggest you to try plants, herbs, they really help, nature is the best laboratory where mankind may get solutions.

    Just do not mix treatments.
Will you go completely bald if you dont use it for a while? Youve had the skin biopsy done, and you've just got that condition. It is very common I hear, in men AND women.

Anyway, if you're very worried, get a second opinion, but I think you'd probably be fine using the cream. I don't even think it'll work, but hell, for it to cause THAT many side effects, it BETTER work =p
guess you have to decide whether or not you trust your doctor. Personally, I'd go to a dermatologist.

My doctor told me to start taking Elmiron for IC, has anybody experienced hair loss with it?

And if you have had hair loss, was it a lot? thanks so much.My doctor told me to start taking Elmiron for IC, has anybody experienced hair loss with it?
I've never taken the drug but have worked with patients who have. Everyone is different so their systems will be different as to how they react to medication. Out of numerous patients I only remember one female that had partial hair loss but in the same instance three men had 50% hair loss. All three of those men were balding before they ever started the medicine. Hope I have helped.

What do you call the doctors for hair loss?

i just want to be aware of the reasons why my hair is falling so early.if you don't mind, can you give me some information on how to threat this?thank you. What do you call the doctors for hair loss?
There may or may not be genetic reasons, People dealing with the hair and scalp diseases are called 'Trichologists'. They may or may not be hard to find in your area, but you could also have alopecia. There are many forms of alopecia and it is caused by different things. You can see a dermatologist to find this out, or your general practitioner can help you find someone. Also, certain types of dermatitis, and psoriasis will cause hair to fall out. As well as poor diet and other health issues such as hyperthyroidism, medications, and drug abuse. Hope this helps. Good luck narrowing it down. If it started all of a sudden it is good that you are looking into reasons. It may very well not be genetic. And baldness that is genetic is passed on through the mothers side of the family. Look at her father, brothers and uncles, and yes, the women too. What do you call the doctors for hair loss?
There is nothing you can do about it , sorry .

Maybe they will come up with something in the future , who knows .

It would be a blessing for many , many , men ....and women .
uhm, it may be genetics (because of your grandfather or someone).

    well, DONT:

wash your hair more than 3x week

    touch your hair too much,

    use hot hairdryers

use any jelly stuff, seting lotions etc.

    wear any hats too often

get a short hair cut, eat vitamins (zinc etc.)

you don't need to see a legitimate doctor you need to see a hair restoration specialist or some garbage like thatWhat kind of doctor should i see about my hair loss?
Seek a Specialist. This area of medicine has changed dramatically over the past few years. Treatments range from FDA-approved medications, to laser light therapy, to micro surgical hair transplantation. New, non-invasive treatments are now available as well as comfortable, undetectable, artistic hair transplant procedures--if necessary.

For a detailed evaluation, genetic hair loss testing, an accurate medical diagnosis, a multi-therapy/multi-modality treatment plan, standardized results-tracking and more, you need to seek the advice of a physician who specializes in hair loss and hair restoration.
Try some home remedies. Egg whites, lemon juice, oil massages, reducing stress and diet changes can reduce hair fall and make it healthier. You can find more cheap, effective and natural home remedies for hair loss as well as for healthy hair at http://www.wellnesstalk.org/hairfall.htm鈥?/a>
You don't need to see a doctor; just buy some Rogaine.

Just kidding. I would say you could see a general all-around doctor, or if it's specifically for hair loss, see a hair-loss specialist. I don't think there's a name for them...
A veterinarian. A HARE loss, lol. Get it??? LOL.... I know it sucked.. And it was corny... But hey, it made my day. No, but seriously, ask your regular doctor for any recommendations.
see your regular doctor, they might perform some blood test and according to the results the doc can refer to you someone else. not sure who but just see your regular doc, get your tyroid checked by a regular doc.

I would say Dermatologist. What kind of doctor should i be talking to regarding hair loss ?
In answer to which doctor should I see for my hair loss, my opinion is that you should probably see dermatologist and endocrinologist.

Most doctors don鈥檛 know enough about hair loss as it is, so seeing doctors in different specialties may actually help you get a better, more accurate diagnosis.
The best thing that you could do, is probably go to your normal local gp. If the problem is bad then they will recommend you to a specialist doctor. If you don't want to go to a doctor's then you can just visit a chemists and they can prescribe you with treatment.
I think trichologist is the best option available they are specalised in hair treatment and do the complete hair analysis before giving you any medicine
you want to speak to a Trichologist. They are hair specialists. You can can then in your local yellow pages
You don't need a doctor. Just have a word with Elton John !!!!!!!

See below for a source assuming you're a woman. If I were you I would try searching for 'Hair Loss Clinic' on your telephone directory - I'm sure you're bound to find something. If you're a man (don't use if you're a woman!) the key ingredients are minoxidil and propecia.

  • Hair loss, doctors stumped, daughter has it too!?

I've always had a small amount of hair loss. I've had dozens of tests since I was a child but no definitive answer. I've been diagnosed with a thyroid disease for the last ten years and now my hair loss is worse even with thyroid supplements. Now my daughter, who is almost ten, is also experiencing some hair loss. Her hair is thick and long, though. Mine used to be but has now thinned to where I hate it and no hair cut looks good. Any comments, ideas, similar stories?Hair loss, doctors stumped, daughter has it too!?
Thyroid conditions and thyroid medications can cause hair loss. If your hair is falling fairly evenly from all over your scalp, it is called telogen effluvium. Because there are so many possible causes, other factors may be involved. Possibilities include low ferritin levels or other nutritional imbalance, hormonal changes, vaccination, extreme diet and weight loss, infection, illness, candidiasis albicans, exposure to toxins or allergens, extreme stress or major life change. Because it is happening to both you and your daughter you may want to look into any possible environmental factor that might be affecting both of you. After losing most of my hair at age 32, I used essential oil scalp massage as a successful re-growth remedy. They are very effective for most hair loss conditions. More info is available at the site below.Hair loss, doctors stumped, daughter has it too!?
The most common type of alopecia areata involves hair loss in one or more round spots on the scalp. Hair may also be lost more diffusely over the whole scalp, in which case the condition is called diffuse alopecia areata. Alopecia areata occurs more frequently in people who have affected family members, suggesting that heredity may be a factor. In addition, it is slightly more likely to occur in people who have relatives with autoimmune diseases. Diseases of the thyroid gland are also frequently seen in association with alopecia areata, indicating an association between the two conditions. Eight percent of people with alopecia areata have thyroid disease; this is higher than the incidence of thyroid disease in the general population which is 2%. There is a correlation between alopecia areata and thyroid disease, but treating the thyroid disease does not remedy the alopecia areata.
I alternate using nioxin and phyto systems for my hair and it really completely got rid of my hair loss. but mine was patches of hair that just woldnt grow anymore from my dad pulling it out so much when i was a kid so it may be different for you and your daughter.
In the case of your daughter, it is normal to lose up to 100 hairs a day, so her loss may just be the normal thing. As far as you, have you mentioned it to your doctor and could you have your thyroid medication adjusted? That may help. Taking vitamins, both of you, may also help.
Many things should be done ,find any other of your lacality has this ,check any of your utensls is giving this problem or Your favorite food may be reason ....................

-(You can write e mail messages to me through this section by clicking my profile)
It's normal to lose hundreds of hairs a day.

But hair loss and bald spots are genetics. There's not really anything you can do about it.
Maybe you've got a genetic hormone thing going on.

    Is it dietary?

What kind of doctor would I look up in the phone book for hair loss? Any advice on hair loss? Anything work?

My hair has been falling out for years now and at this point the whole top of my head only has a thin layer of hair. The front of my head still has more but it is fading and I notice it is spreading more and more to the sides of my head. None of my parents have hair loss issues nor did their parents. The thinning out did not start at the top back of my head, so Rogaine is out of the question since it says on the bottle that it is only for the top back of your head; that is if that stuff actually works. In the mean time I have been using shampoo that gives fluff to your hair which helps but soon I will either be bald up top or shave my head and do a military type cut. I'm only in my 30's and this started about 4 years ago, so it seems kind of soon. I almost never wear hats and try not to use gel/hairspray whenever possible. Any advice? Can any kind of doctor give me more info? I am not interested in crazy surgeries or hair plugs. Thanks for any help! What kind of doctor would I look up in the phone book for hair loss? What doctor should I see for women's hair loss?

The general doctor I saw a while back said it was no big deal. I can pick up all my hair into a ponytail with a tiny little clip and I'm 25. That's a big deal! Even my hairstyling said my line is thinning too much.

It falls in clumps especially after showering and during the day i shed everywhere. I already use nutri-ox and have upped my calcium intake. What the heck should i do???What doctor should I see for women's hair loss?

A tricologist is the best person to see for this problem

You probably should see an Endocrinologist because you could have a Thyroid problem %26amp; it could cause you to have a lot of hair loss.
Bunny, try either a dermatologist or a trichologist. In the mean time, I suggest you read up on this site and see whether you can adapt some of its recommendations to address your problems:

use a product that is supposed to help hair grow back. they dont help hair grow back, just keep it from falling out. so try that. even if its for men.
    Dermatologist
first consult your gp, then maybe try a trycologist if that is not succesful......good luck

What is excessive abnormal hair loss that would need a call to the doctor?

If it is more than 100 strands a day. It is normal to shed some hair each day as part of a cycle of growing new hairs and loosing some. Badly damaged hair breaks at the scalp. Check out http://usefulinfo-hairloss.blogspot.com/ for more info. What is excessive abnormal hair loss that would need a call to the doctor?
Anything that is coming out in clumps. Anything causing noticeable thinning of the hair. If you're seeing clumps of it on your clothes, on your pillow when you wake up, going down the shower drain, etc.

It could be something totally treatable like a thyroid problem, nutritional deficiency, or hormones, so best if you're concerned to see a doc and get some tests done.

Which doctor should I go see for my hair loss?

I have been loosing a lot of hair lately, which doctor should I go see a dermatologist or my regular doctor?Which doctor should I go see for my hair loss?
you can see a dermatologist but in the long run you will have to face reality of going bald. those big industries makes a lot of money bilking people out of their money for nothing.Which doctor should I go see for my hair loss?

First of all, don't stress about it. :D

Second, you can stop your hair loss like I did!

I started losing my hair and I tried Propecia and Rogaine, with little results.

I quit using them because I felt they were harming my health, so I tried to see what the 'alternative' cures had to offer.

Everything seemed like a scam: creams, oils, nothing really hit the nail for me.

Take the comment above mine, for example.

That site is a scam, I (unfortunately) know what that e-book is about: nothing!

The author needs to giveaway other e-books full of lies such as 'increase your height' or 'increase your sex appeal' because the one about hair loss is full of bulls**t.

After extensive research and two years of depression for the worsening condition of my hair, I found out the ONLY site that is genuine and works, it even has detailed VIDEOS that teach you how to exercise in order to increase the blood flow to your scalp and halt your hair loss for ever. :)

This is the only ebook that is 100% genuine (I know this for experience...), I PROMISE.

The videos are really powerful and speak for themselves.

    Here's the link:

This is not a scam, I would never cheat on somebody who is facing the same issues that I had.

Losing hair is hard enough without being ripped off...

Trust me and you WILL stop your hair loss.

    Bye,

Dermatologist. You can spend a small fortune on pills, creams, lotions, wigs, weaves %26amp; hair transplants - but in the end - you still must accept the inevitable %26amp; get on with the rest of your life. Life is not always the way it's supposed to be. It's just the way it is. The way you cope with it is what makes the difference. Genetics rule. You cannot re-program genetics.
A Dermatologist can determine if you have male pattern baldness or some other type of malady.
Suggest you check with your regular doctor to confirm the hair loss is not due to any illness. After that you can go to either dermatologist or trichologist (depend on your needs) for your hair loss. Below is a summary of the difference between these 3 groups of hair loss specialists:

    1. Regular doctor - To determine if an illness may be associated with the hair loss.

    2. Dermatologist - Specialise in treating skin related conditions. Scalp is part of the skin.

    3. Trichologist - Specialise in scalp and hair disorders. To determine the rate and severity of hair loss.

Depending on where you live, you may be able to visit a trichologist. Trichologists specialize in the scientific study of scalp and hair disorders. They look at your scalp under a microscope to determine what type of hair loss you are experiencing. They can try to pinpoint to cause and offer a solution.

If you're noticing excessive amounts of hair falling out from all over the scalp you may be experiencing telogen effluvium. This type of hair loss has many possible causes. It is usually a reaction to a change or imbalance in the body.

Try to think back to a few months before the excessive hair loss began to see if their was any change, illness, stressful event, etc.

Telogen effluvium is usually temporary once the cause is identified and addressed. Essential oil formulas can be very helpful in this type of hair loss.

Alopecia (one ';l';) is a word to look for in Yahoo or Google, make sure you type in your city as well, and you'll see who is a local Dr. that can treat you. You may also try ';DHT'; (a form of testosterone that is the cause for 95 percent of hair loss - men AND women) - another ';hair loss'; keyword.

Finding a doctor is one thing, but finding one in YOUR area is another.

copy and past in your browser:

I recently noticed that I have been loosing quite a bit of hair towards the front of my scalp. Lets just say there is enough hair missing that my mom pulled me aside and talked to me about it.What doctor should I go to for hair loss?
start out by going to your regular family doctor and he/she can recommend a specialist. i'd suggest seeing a doctor before you try and treatments yourself since depending on the reason for your hair loss, some/all may not work or could make it worse. i always hesitate to answer questions regarding hair loss because i think i can tend to jump to assuming it's a disease called alopicia because my sister has this. but from the way you described how the hair is falling out it does sound like it could be. but definitely call your doctor! while there aren't any definite treatments for all people with alopecia, doctors have had sucess with a lot of experimental treatments and they vary from person to person with whether they work. i'm by no means an expert but my sister has had alopecia for almost 10 years so if you have any questions feel free to send me a message and i'll try to help you the best i can! What doctor should I go to for hair loss?

I have a family doctor but I'd rather not go to him if he is just going to refer me to someone else. What doctor do you see if you feel like you are losing more than the normal amount of hair? What doctor do you see about female hair loss?
The reaon why its good to go to ur family doc is because ur hair loss can be a result of a major health problem. He will probably want to have u go for bloodwork to determine hormone levels. Or he can just have a look at u and say okay u need ....

Hair loss can be caused by various health disorders, but a dermatologist may be able to satisfy u.What doctor do you see about female hair loss?
I looked it up and couldn't find a specific doctor--a specialist--for hair loss. My guess is that your family doctor will refer you to someone else (sorry) based on the totality of your symptoms. It may be that you have another problem that is causing the hair loss, such as hypothyroidism, so you would need to see a specialist in that area (endocrinologist for thyroid). I was losing quite a bit before I was diagnosed as hypothyroid. My generalist did some blood tests before he referred me to a specialist.
You're going to have to go to your family dr first to figure out WHY you're losing hair! If it's due to some underlying disease or condition, that has to be diagnosed first.

I went to the doctor because of hair loss and he took some blood samples. what can i expect?

i am 20, and i am not under any major stress or pressure.

what can this mean?I went to the doctor because of hair loss and he took some blood samples. what can i expect?
Hello Star, I want you to be more positive about this.. you are only very young so, lets not speculate on negative things. Its normal to lose hair with change of season and people lose certain amount of hair on daily basis. Loss of hair could be due to many other things as well like; diet, stress, hormonal change in your body (this is common for teens or early 20's), weather change and god knows what else. If you saw just howmuch hair I lose on daily basis, you would think I was bald. I wake up to pillow full of hair everyday but, I am 43 and still have more hair than I would imagined I would have when I was your age. There could be other underlying cause for your hair and you might not know it so, sometimes, blood test is there to check the possible cause of other things. If your family have no history of anyone suffering from major disease, chances are you will be fine as well. Both of my parents have died from different form of cancer yet, my siblings and I are still alive and kicking so, just focus on other things and don't stress about the possible outcome.. they say that always hope for the best and expect the worst but, in this case, I wouldn't even do that.. you will be fine..I went to the doctor because of hair loss and he took some blood samples. what can i expect?
People's hair grows in cycles that last from two to seven years. Each strand has its own seven-year cycle until it is finally shed as a normal part of washing or brushing. People can expect to lose between 100 and 200 strands of hair each day. Now, it's cause for concern if hair comes out by the handfuls, or if there are sores or scabs on the scalp. Also, some hair loss is permanent and some is temporary.

    - The most common permanent hair loss is called pattern baldness (androgenetic alopecia). Males with pattern baldness start to lose hair in the front, sides, and crown of their heads. Women with pattern baldness typically find their hair thinning around the front and the crown of their heads. While pattern baldness can start anytime after puberty, it's most common for it to begin in a person's 20's. Some people with pattern baldness become completely bald, others don't. Pattern baldness is usually hereditary, although not always. Although pattern baldness is permanent, there are some treatments available that a doctor could recommend after diagnosing it.

    - Some types of hair loss indicate an underlying problem. Sometimes, hair falls out weeks or months following psychological stress or trauma to the body. When small round patches of hair fall from the scalp, it could be a sign of alopecia areata鈥?an incurable, but sometimes treatable, disease of the immune system. This usually occurs in childhood or young adulthood, although it could occur at any age. Trauma to the scalp or hair can also cause hair loss (traumatic alopecia). This occurs when hair is pulled into braids or other hairstyles or when hair is damaged by heat from hot rollers or dryers. Also, when chemical treatments (i.e., perms, dye, straighteners) are used improperly they can burn the scalp or cause hair to break mid-strand. Use of some drugs like anabolic steroids and amphetamines is also linked to hair loss. Hair loss can also be a symptom of an underlying medical condition like diabetes, lupus, or thyroid disease. It could also signal poor nutrition. Sometimes people lose hair as a result of a fungal infection to the scalp (ringworm or tinea capitis). In these cases, the scalp gets flaky or scaly and hair breaks of at the scalp.

Keep open communication with your doctor. At this point, I don't see any reason to be terribly worried. Your doctor will advise you on what to do.

Good luck, and get well soon!
he could be checking your Biotin (vitamin B7) levels. Hair loss is a symptom of Biotin deficiency.
ppl who loss hair might have cancer?

What type of doctor do you see for hair loss?

I am only 20 and seem to be loosing more hair than normal. Anyone know whay type of doctor I need to see or what could be causing this? What type of doctor do you see for hair loss?
Considering your age, -- and assuming you're not a cancer patient or something -- I would start with either an endocrinologist (to check the specifics of your hormone levels) or a dietician to examine your nutrition.

A dermatologist can tell you if you are harming your scalp with shampoos, soaps or other products.

As always, start with your GP and let him/her refer you.

Good luck!!What type of doctor do you see for hair loss?
Hi Shannon, for hair loss problems, you can see a dermatologist, skin specialist or trichologist (hair expert). For hair loss, the first suspect is often the thyroid. If the thyroid is ok, then it could be genetic or simply nutrient deficiency. You can check out info about hypothyroidism and vitamins for hair loss from this site:

    http://www.hairlossmentor.com/minerals-a鈥?/a>

Have a nice day. Your worries may turn out to be a small matter which can be corrected easily. By the way, do you know that losing 100 hairs a day is considered normal?
All of the above answers are correct. Lack of iron, poor diet, stress, low or high thyroid all can cause hair loss. Have you switched shampoos lately? My son used a shampoo called BedHead and it make his hair fall out-I'm not kidding!

Most people will lose between 50-100 hairs per day believe it or not. If you believe it's not for any of the reasons listed above, and you are losing 'plugs'; of hair or it's coming out in your fingers and never ceases, you need to make another appointment with the doctor and it's really up to the patient to be emphatic and say ';STOP...LISTEN...something is wrong!'; Some doctors just don't slow down and stop for 5 minutes unless you really call them on it. Good luck.
This could be a hormone problem, thyroid problem or iron deficiency. I would start with your family doctor.
    Dermatologist

What type of doctor should I see about hair loss?

Everytime, I saw the article about hair loss and they also advise people to consult with doctor. However, they never mention what type of doctor should we visit? Does anyone visit doctor and get good result? What is my expectation? What type of doctor should I see about hair loss?
You would need to see a Dermatologist, since hair is an extension of the skin. What type of doctor should I see about hair loss?
They mean just your regular physician, but that means they just want someone to rule out any illnesses. Some people grow a little bit of feathers using Rogain, but not a lot of hair growth. If you do not have a medical condition or bad stress causing the hair loss, then cut your losses, get a short haircut like others losing their hair (its good looking too) like john travolta, et. al., orrrr go to a reputable hair replacement specialist. They cost big $$$ though.... If all else fails, some men look great bald.

That would be a dermatologist. He has probably burned his scalp. The skin on the scalp is just as important as the skin on the rest of the body. The dermatologist can determine how badly his scalp is damaged and recommend the best course of treatment.

A family practitioner can get you started on the right track.

Hair loss can be caused by many things, like a problem with your thyroid. Your Dr. will order a bunch of tests to find the root of the problem, to the hair loss. Once the problem is discovered, you will be referred to a doctor that specializes in that area.

However, if it is caused by the medication - the only way to get your hair back to normal is to change medications if possible.

I was on Wellbutrin and my hair fell out so much it was scary. I was very upset. It took 6 months after I stopped taking Wellbutrin, for it to get out of my system, and my hair to return to normal.
Medicines can have different affect on each person, talk to your doctor about what she is taking, if the side effect is one she is really concerned about see what else can they give her, otherwise, besides vitamins, look for stimulates for hair and scalp growth.

anyway as we know - hair loss can be caused by many different reasons! Find out the actual cause of hair loss! There are many causes of loss of hair such as stress, poor nutrition ,medications, thyroid dysfunctions, illness, fungal infections ,hormonal problems, to mention a few.

year ago my husband suffered very much from hair loss too and he started trying everything you can imagine to stop his hair loss. the things that really worked for him was:

    1) Vitamin A - an anti-oxidant which promotes healthy production of sebum in the scalp;

    2) Vitamin E stimulates circulation. Good blood circulation in the scalp is important in keeping hair follicles productive. The 'B' vitamins contribute to melanin, which gives hair its healthy color and also stimulates blood circulation;

    3) massage is also beneficial. Massage stimulates circulation. As already noted, good circulation in the scalp keeps hair follicles active. Experts suggest a few minutes of daily head massage by hand. Circulation through massage may be improved by using a few drops of lavender or bay essential oil in an almond or sesame oil base with massage;

    4) Try rubbing your scalp with garlic juice, Onion Juice or Ginger Juice(you can either of one out of three, Do not mix any of two or three);

    5) also he used herbal treatment - TrichoZed

It is a good product that helps prevent hair loss and it is an FDA approved product. I think it is very important!

It worked and still works for him!

I do not know if any pharmacies carry TrichoZed but I do know that you should purchase it directly from the manufacturer and read more about the product here http://www.trichozed.info/why.php

It enhances hair growth by blocking DHT (Dihydrotestostrone) - a major cause of hair loss!

    good luck!

    Anti-Hair Loss Shampoos

Anti-Hair Loss Shampoos : Rub-a-Dub Dub – But Gently PleaseOne easy-to-try option is a shampoo specifically designed to increase the health of existing hair and to reduce the rate of hair loss in both men and women. There are several sources to investigate specific shampoos, research studies which can be accessed to determine the effectiveness of many of these products. Good professional sources include dermatologists and licensed cosmeticians who see hair loss conditions frequently and have had the opportunity to observe the efficacy of a variety of shampoos. As well, an Internet “Google” search will provide hundreds of products, complete with testimony and small research studies. It’s easy to get confused when investigating the hundreds of shampoos available. With some background knowledge of what has shown to be effective in larger, previous studies, however, you can make more intelligent choices about the shampoos you choose for experimentation. And that is the great thing about shampoos – they are relatively inexpensive in this maze of hair loss/regrowth methods, so you can try lots of them without breaking your budget!1. Surfactants: People feel good when their shampoos lather up nicely. Lather, however, is just for psychological effect. Somehow we believe that the more lather a shampoo produces, the cleaner our hair must be getting. Hogwash! The ingredient that causes lather is call a surfactant and does not have cleaning properties. Other ingredients in shampoos actually do the cleaning. Surfactants are, however, pretty harsh, and, for someone who is experiencing more-than-normal hair loss, surfactants should be avoided. There are lots of shampoos out there without it – try some.2. Herbal Ingredients: The most notable herb with some success in hair loss difficulty is Saw Palmetto. Shampoos with this ingredient are certainly worth a try. Saw Palmetto seems to inhibit the production of DHT in men, for example, and DHT causes hair follicles to shrink and close up.3. Nettle and bay have also been helpful to some people. Shampoos which include these might help you too.4. Essential Oils: These oils are concentrated ones which come from plants such as lavender. From ancient times, these have been used to stimulate healthy hair and to decrease the rate of hair loss. We know that we have much to learn from early medicine men and healers. Perhaps this is another example.5. Tea Tree Oil: Many swear by this ingredient, and there are several brands of this on the market. So popular are these shampoos, you can find them at most any drug store as well as health product retailers. As an aside, tea tree oil has also been found to be effective in the prevention of head lice infestations. There are no definitive studies to show that shampoos can actually result in regrowth of hair that is caused by what we all “permanent” conditions, largely the result of heredity and hormones. However, early prevention is important, and experimenting with shampoos during these early stages may provide invaluable help in reducing the rate of loss.

you need to see a dermatologist. They specialise in scalp conditions.

One word of advice. If the dermatologist or your own doctor prescribes ';chemical treatments'; like propecia or rogaine do not take them. I made the mistake of taking propecia without knowing the side effects. then found out the hard way they can cause erectile dysfunction and even impotence.

f you are beginning to lose your hair there are several things you can do to stop it.

Eat a healthy diet. Hair is 95% protein and eating a diet with plenty of vitamins and proteins will not only make your hair look healthy but will

    help you to keep it.

take hair supplements for There are many that contain all the vitamins and proteins your hair needs. the best ones contain DHT inhibitors that stop your body converting testosterone into DHT.

Use a good shampoo. Ideally it should have a pH between 5 and 9. If you are not sure what to use get a shampoo formulated for hair loss. What is the hair loss doctor called?..?
The most common form of hair loss in both men and women is androgenic alopecia (also known as androgenetic alopecia.) In males, this condition is known as male-pattern baldness because there is a well-defined pattern of lost hair -- over time the hairline recedes forming the ';M'; shape. Hair does not only recede but also becomes thinner, often progressing to total baldness.

As the recent research found out, male-pattern baldness is primarily caused by the increased level of the hormone dihydrotestosterone (DHT.) It is not yet completely understood how DHT affects the scalp but it is known that if a person is genetically prone to baldness, DHT may initiate the process of so-called follicular miniaturization. This process can begin as early as the end of puberty. Follicular miniaturization leads to hair becoming progressively thinner and thinner until it is completely lost.

The good news is that it is possible to prevent and reverse baldness. Since it is primarily caused by the excess amounts of DHT, the obvious solution is to decrease the level of DHT. This can be done using synthetic chemical drugs or natural treatments.

The doctor you should see is a general practioner.
